About Matt Quick
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Matt teachers both young and adult students on a one to one basis, in small groups or class room setting. He has a proven record of helping students to achieve their goals, including using the recognised musical examinations through the various music colleges and the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
Several of his students have gone on to study music at the top music colleges, universities or have joined a service band.
PERFORMER
Matt has played with a variety if ensembles ranging from small brass groups to symphony orchestras, small jazz groups to west end shows, touring jazz groups to big bands, wind bands to improvised jazz groups. Something he continues to enjoy today.
MILITARY
In his early career Matt has spent over 16 years in the Scots Guards Band. He was fortunate to take part in all of the countries State Ceremonial parades including The Queens Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour), the Cenotaph and the Festival of Remembrance. The band was also part of the Queens Mothers Procession to her laying in state. The band travelled the world extensively and had the honour if taking part in the Handover of Hong Kong in 1997.
Matt also played in the Scots Guards brass quintet and lead trombone in the Household (Guards) Division big band. On the formation of the Army Big Band he joined as the lead trombonist.
Whilst serving in the Scots Guards Band he successfully completed his MA (Performance) and passed LTCL Recital in Trombone.
More recently Matt has played The Honourable Artillery Company, which is the oldest Regiment within the British Army having been formed in 1537.
The Regimental Band of the Honourable Artillery Company is the premier band within the Army Reserve and carries out engagements both within the City of London, within the country and abroad. The band takes part in all of the Ceremonial activities within the City and performs regularly for The Lord Mayor and livery companies.
